Junior Warriors

In Week 10 of Term 3, after morning tea the year 6, 7 and 8s had a rugby league final. We had teams that were competing in the finials and they were The Jr Warriors, Warriors, Crazy Horses, New South Wales, East Side 79 and Queensland.

First, it was the year six's and the Jr warriors were playing against the Warriors and I was playing in the Warriors.  So the game began and the Warriors were kicking off first in the first half, the Warriors scored 2 tries and the Jr Warriors scored nothing. Next in the second half the final score was 4 to 0 and so the Warriors won.

Then, its was the year 8s next and the teams that were playing were East Side 79 against Queensland. The final score after the second half was 6 to 0, it was a very good win to Eastside 79 but a bad lost to Queensland.

Next, after the year year 8s had their game it was time for the year 7s to play their final game and the teams that were playing were The Crazy Horses against New South Wales. At the end of the game, the final scores were 6 to 1, so New South had won the finals for the year 7s and I'm sure that they were very happy.

Finally, when all the games had finished all the teams that participated all went down to the hall to have prize giving, we all went in and sat down then the three members from the former Jr Warriors team came with three boxes of prizes, then they asked the best boy and girl from each team that did very well in the game to come and received their prizes and the prizes were a Jr warriors signed rugby ball, Jr warriors boot bag and a Warriors water bottle.

Later on we were asked by room 10 that they wanted to share their BBQ, drinks and chips. We all had a great game and a wonderful experience.

Nelson Mandela/Story review

In 1918 July 18, a beautiful man was born in the Eastern Coast of Africa in Mvezo, when Nelson was nine his father died & he was raised by royalty. After, he was the first member in his family that had attended school. Later on in life he became an Activist with the African National Congress. Knowing that he had the power of the young ones, he had made a African National Congress Youth League.

Later on he started the African National Congress Youth League. Mandela began actively participating in politics in his thirties, when he led the Defiance Campaign in 1952 and the 1955 Congress of the People.

His campaigning soon hit a brickwall in 1956, when he was charged with high treason against the government along with 155 other activists.

Later on Apartheid was getting stronger and new laws were passed which told the blacks where to work and live. But Mandela tried to fight back, coordinating sabotage campaign.

The Worst Accident Ever

The  Worst Accident Ever

On a very lovely day my friend and I decided to go skateboarding so when we got to the skate park we did lots of cool tricks. Then my friend tried to do a dangerous skateboard trick so he went to the highest ramp and he skated of the ramp and he did a back flip. Then all of a sudden he didn't go all the way around and when he touched the ground he landed on his head.

Then I went to him and he was bleeding from his head so I called the ambulance and what I thought is that it was the  worst accident ever. So when the ambulance got to the skate park they came out and they got him up and took him into the ambulance.

When my friend was at the hospital the doctors said that he’s gonna have surgery .Then the doctors called his parents that he was in the hospital. The parents were worried about their son. When my friend had finished his surgery then he had to stay back in the hospital until 3 weeks.

My friend felt worried because of what had happened and it was called the Worst Accident Ever.

Junior Warriors

On Thursday room 9 and part of room 10 went up to the play field and there were 5 teams. One group was named Junior Warriors,Warriors,Rabbitohs,Broncos and Bulldogs.

First it was Broncos vs Bulldogs and I was in Broncos and the points were 1 all but the ref said that the Broncos won because we got the first try and it was a close game.

Then the next battle was Rabbitohs vs Warriors and the Warriors had 5 and the Rabbitohs had 3 and it was a tough game because both teams had strong people but there were fast people in both teams.

Meanwhile it was the semi finals and it was Broncos vs the Bulldogs and the point was 3 to 1. Broncos had 1 and Bulldogs had 3.Bulldogs were hard and they scored heaps of tries and I played in the Broncos.

Finally it was the finals and it was going to be a good game because both teams were strong teams. Then they played Junior Warriors vs the Bulldogs but the team that won was Junior Warriors 5 to 0 so the Junior Warriors are the champions.

My Funny Story about animals in the story

My Funny Story

Once upon a time there lived some jumping elephants, they lived in the jungle that seriously smelt. All of the living animals, blew balloons especially the baboons.

A year later a girl named Alyson was walking through the jungle and she saw an elephant jumping, twirling and doing the Tango dance.

Then there was an alligator named Poodle who was dancing to the Whipa Nae Nae song.
There was an animal named Banjo and He was saying “Hahaha” you can’t dance, i’m more better then you. Then poodle said ohhh do you want to have a competition who is better at dancing and Banjo said alright let’s go.

When Banjo was walking with poodle he tripped over a yellow ball, he picked it up and it was a lemon.

Poodle and Banjo went to the dance floor.
Later on Poodle was tired but Banjo wasn’t and Banjo was saying HAHA i’m the best at dancing and Poodle said I don’t mind because we still have time to have a break.

Finally Poodle and Banjo became friends again.

My Mothers Cloak

As an infant
I felt guarded
Cloaked
in my mothers cloak
It must have looked funny
Big black eyes
Emerging from its folds
As if that was all there was
to me

I remember
Its rare threads
Amazing and booish
Their lightness
repudiate their clout
Its tivaevae-like Switchs
of slim fabric
An active shield
against sour winters
The colours loud
Yelling for mind
and space

My mother always wore
that Cloak with delight
Undaunted
by its Brightness effect
outlining her out
in a Papaa circle
But combining  beautifully
at every Market

I remember too
With childlike disdain
Discarding my mothers Cloak
Not for me
The no cool designs
extravagant colouring
and awkward fit

She wears it still
Her brooch of pride
sparkling and bright
And not long ago
I tried it on
after many years
Although its not really me
Its because of her
I can sew

on my own

On A Sunny day in December my Family organised a picnic. We set it up near a river surrounded by the mountains. This was my school holidays.

We were all very excited. We travelled to that place by bicycles. This was a long and fun ride. As soon as we reached the place we set up our picnic table with all our things and parked our bicycles.

We saw a lady engrossed in fishing. We had lots of food for BBQ. We all helped each other in cooking and had a very yummy lunch.

Afterwards we swam in the river for sometime and later we decided to go for mountain biking. After we came back from the mountain, we had some desert.

Finally  it was time to go home. We packed all our things and cleaned the place by picking up our rubbish.

I will not forget this beautiful family picnic. I look forward to having many more fun days with my family.

The Asthma Show

The Asthma Show

Today, on a sunny morning, we had a show on Asthma in the Glenbrae School Hall. This show was hosted by a man named Chris who was dressed in a blue suit and he looked handsome.

Chris talked to us about Asthma. Chris said that Asthma was really bad and it affected our lungs and breathing. People feel as if they are  breathing in a small straw.

We learnt from Chris that asthma was triggered by flower pollen, smoke, virus, animal fur, dust mites and cold air. He told us that we could use an Asthma inhaler to help us breath if we suffered from asthma.

Later on in the show, Chris introduced Sailor, the fish. Sailor the fish was big, orangey and greeny. Sailor was funny because  he flipped is tail when he sang a song about asthma.

I learnt so many things about Asthma in the show. Now I can talk to people about asthma and how it can be treated.

Event-Malama Honua

Malama Honua Event

One  very bright, sunny Wednesday morning, 25th of March 2015, the Manaiakalani Cluster went to Pt England to see the two wakas that had come from Hawaii. These two wakas were  called the  Hourua Hokule’a and the Hikianalia.

When we arrived at Pt England beach, we saw all the schools from the cluster there, so we went to sit down in our area. Then we saw them arriving. When they came to shore, we sang the waiata  “E Honore”  and we did a haka to welcome them. When we finished singing the waiata,  we sat down.

After that the Kaumatua we welcomed the people from the waka. Then one of the people from the waka gave a speech in Hawaiian but the funny thing was, we did not understand what he was talking about until it was translated in English.

Then a lady from the Hourua Hokule’a responded in her language. After that, all the children went down to the beach to hi five the visitors and say their goodbyes.

Finally, we walked back to school in the hot sun.

Easter Day

  1. What is Easter? The most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Christ and held (in the Western Church) between 21 March and 25 April, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.
The weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
  1. Who celebrates Easter? Many Christians celebrate Easter Sunday as the day of Jesus Christ's resurrection, which is written in the New Testament of the Christian bible. According to the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty.
  2. Why do they celebrate Easter? So Jesus did not stay dead; He rose from the dead! We are actually celebrating Jesus' death for our sins and His resurrection. That is why many people call   Easter, Resurrection Sunday, because that is exactly what it is.
  3. What is the significance of the Easter egg?The egg, an ancient symbol of new life, has been associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring. From a Christian perspective, Easter egg are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb and resurrection.
